Kristen Fellers

Nurse Prescriber (Christchurch)

Originally from Northern California, Kristen’s early strengths in science combined with her natural connection with people led her into a career in nursing.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at California State University, Chico in 2008, before gaining valuable experience as a surgical nurse in the United States. After moving to New Zealand, Kristen spent nine years working at 24 Hour Surgery, where she held roles as both a Registered Nurse and Acute Demand Nurse. Since 2021, she has worked in general practice, where she established a local heart failure clinic and developed a nurse-led heart failure exercise group.

In 2024, Kristen completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences through the University of Otago, qualifying her as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Prescriber. This has enabled her to provide more comprehensive, responsive, and continuous care to her patients.

Kristen has been drawn to heart failure care since her earliest days in nursing. She finds the field both deeply rewarding and critically important, recognising the significant impact nurses can have on patients’ quality of life. She is especially passionate about building long-term relationships with patients and their families, and values the trust placed in her as part of their care journey.

Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time outdoors with her family hiking, biking, and camping, often exploring in their well-loved (and occasionally temperamental) four-wheel drive.
